Synergy was created in the spirit of adventure and with the vision of being a synergy of both Eastern and Western design influences. The seeds of Synergy were planted in 1993, by Kate Fisher, when she set off for Nepal and India with adventure in her eyes.
Synergy makes clothing that combines sustainability, with modern yet timeless design. They strive to make clothing that looks good, and is also gentle on Earth. They predominantly work with organic cotton from India, that is dyed with low impact dyes. Their clothing is hand made in Nepal, according to fair trade practices, verified by their long-term relationships with their manufacturers and their frequent trips to Nepal.
Synergy's belief, work ethics and support system is described below in their own words:
Hand in Hand
Supporting their Nepali Family is as important as supporting their team in America. Synergy pays all its employees in Nepal a living wage and offer significant yearly bonuses. Through this program, they are empowering a group of over 150 women to rise above poverty by giving them the opportunity to work from home and support their families.
Synergy clothing is made with Certified Organic Cotton and other eco-friendly fibers. Using these materials reduces pesticide usage, damage to fresh water resources, and lowers health risks for global farming communities. (It also makes the clothing really soft...)
According to the World Bank, 17-20% of industrial water pollution comes from textile dyeing and treatment. Synergy only use low impact dyes and minimize finishes, which significantly decreases the water pollution footprint before, during, and after production.
Water Wheel Foundation
Synergy supports the Waterwheel Foundation. Waterwheel is a non-profit organization created by the brand Phish as a way to raise funds for smaller pre-selected no-profits in each community that Phish visits. Waterwheel typically focuses on organizations benefitting women and children, clean water, food banks, urban gardening, and more.
GOTS - Global Organic Textile Standard
Synergy is proud to adhere to the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS). They work with the only GOTS certified factory in Nepal as well as GOTS certified fabric mills in India.
Synergy is proud to be a Green America Certified business. Their mission is to harness economic power—the strength of consumers, investors, businesses, and the marketplace—to create a socially just and environmentally sustainable society.
Being eco-friendly is part of everything Synergy does. In order to reduce the carbon footprint in their daily operations, their warehouse primarily uses solar lighting, reuses boxes for shipments, and uses only recycled paper and soy based inks.
Organiq Living is proud to have association with a brand as ethical as Synergy. We look forward to bringing the best selection from Synergy to you and let you also get inspired.
